San Rafael, CA, USA — PC Guardian, a premier manufacturer of computer security products in Marin County announced today its sponsorship as a lead business partner for the Marin Abused Women's Services (MAWS) 3rd annual fundraising event. The “Luncheon in Celebration of Mothers” takes place on Friday May 12, from 11:00 to 2:00 at the Peacock Gap Country Club in San Rafael.
“Our decision to support Marin Abused Women's Services is due to their nearly 30 years of outstanding work in helping to make Marin's communities free of family violence and domestic abuse,” said PC Guardian President and CEO Ann Laurenson. “As an employer in Marin since 1984, we've been aware of their work for a long time and are honored to help underwrite some of their costs so they can continue to provide a high level of support for Marin families.”
“Sponsoring the MAWS event is part of PC Guardian's 'Give Back' campaign for 2006,” continued Laurenson. “The company sets aside funds to support community based organizations, allows employees to accrue volunteer time towards helping charities of their choice, and makes available PC Guardian products at no-charge to qualifying non-profits.”
“We deeply appreciate PC Guardian’s support for this event,” said Donna Garske, Executive Director of MAWS. “Having local companies support our mission helps us not only continue the range of services we provide, but also increases awareness of the issues involved.”
“In the United States,” continued Garske, “domestic violence remains the leading cause of injuries to women, and it is the most common crime in the Marin County. More than 30% of all women treated in Marin hospitals are battered women. MAWS is the only organization in Marin County operating an emergency shelter, transitional housing and counseling programs for battered women and their children.”
