San Rafael, CA, USA — PC Guardian, a premier manufacturer of computer anti-theft security products announced today a new distribution agreement with The Douglas Stewart Company (DSC), a top-tier distributor and marketer of computer products and accessories to the education sector. The agreement provides distribution rights to DSC of PC Guardian's retail product offerings initially aimed at 2500 college bookstores in the US and Canada.
“The education market has always been an important part of our growth strategy” said Richard Harris, PC Guardian's VP of Sales and Business Development. “We already have significant coverage in education on the institutional side, serving nearly 200 Colleges in North America, and adding a distribution partner the caliber of The Douglas Stewart Company enables us to build upon that success and make our products more widely available.”

College students and staff are particularly vulnerable to computer theft, according to the Identity Theft Resource Center located in San Diego CA. Their tracking reports indicate that 48% of all computer breaches in 2005 and 35% through May of this year occurred in educational institutions. 26% of this year's breaches occurred because of computer theft and exposed the sensitive data of nearly 118,000 students and staff.
